1. Introduction
Inner Mongolia Agricultural University (IMAU) was established in 1952, with the first president appointed by chairman Mao Zedong. Over the past 56 years, IMAU has initiated a multi-level management system. Its primary objective is focused on undergraduate studies. Nevertheless, IMAU has been paying profound attention to postgraduate, higher vocational and adult educational programs. IMAU is a multi-discipline university with 8 fields of study. They are Agronomy, Science, Engineering, Economics, Management, Social Sciences and Education. IMAU has succeeded in cultivating more than 70,000 skilled talents in diverse fields of study. ?Currently, IMAU has 19 colleges including the College of Animal Science and Medicine, a Department for Physical Education and an Advanced Educational Research Center, 2 ministry-level key laboratories,?1 key laboratory of the State Bureau of Forestry,?7?regional Key?laboratories,?1 state-level open field observation station, 3 regional engineering technology research centers, 1 engineering research center supported by the Ministry of Education.?There is also?1 state-level key discipline,?1 key discipline of the Ministry of Agriculture, 3 key disciplines of the State Bureau of Forestry and?22 regional key disciplines.? ?IMAU has 6 first-level and 33 second-level disciplines, which are authorized to grant doctorate degrees. IMAU has established?3 moving scientific research stations for post-doctorate research. It also has 72 second-level disciplines that confer master degrees. IMAU offers 58 undergraduate programs, thirteen of?which are offered in both Mongolian and Chinese languages.? ?In the last?6 years, IMAU has undertaken?806 state-level, as well as provincial-level, science and technology programs. The total funds, for scientific research programs, amounted to 150 million RMB. The number of programs undertaken by IMAU and funded by the State Natural Science Fund, ranked number 6 among all colleges and universities of agriculture and forestry. IMAU has acquired scientific research achievements in?265 programs and provincial “Technological Advancement ”awards in?18 programs,?7 of which are first-class awards. All these have provided extensive technological support and service for the economic construction, ecology and natural forest protection, reforesting the cultivated land, prohibiting herding and encouraging yard-feeding among other developments in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The government of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region once awarded “Excellent collectivity that had made great contribution in developing our region through technological education” to IMAU.? ? IMAU has established broad academic ties with some 20 universities in USA, Canada, UK, France, Australia, Japan, Russia and the Republic of Mongolia among other nations. IMAU has collaborative programs with foreign educational institutions. Up to now, outstanding achievements have been made in teaching, scientific research, cultural exchange and joint programs.

5. Procedure of Application
Applicants can request the “IMAU Application Form for Foreign Students” from the College of International Collaboration at IMAU or authorized by IMAU overseas agencies. Upon completely filling the forms, they should be returned to IMAU with following materials:
? Authentic and original Physical Examination Form for Foreigners (a copy with photo of the applicant is acceptable)
? Applicant's Résumé (CV).
? Authenticated Certificates of the latest degrees (copies are acceptable)
? A Copy of valid passport (front page with passport number)
Note: Recommendation letters from 2 professors or associate professors are a prerequisite for those who apply for graduate or postgraduate studies.
6. Letter of acceptance
@ After receiving the pertinent documents of the application, the college of the International Collaboration at IMAU will notify the applicant of being accepted at an opportune time. During the second phase of admission, a Visa Application Form will be sent to the applicants by IMAU.
@ The applicant using the abovementioned documents should go the Chinese Embassy abroad to apply for an X-type visa (study visa).
@ Upon arrival at Hohhot, the student should register at the College of International collaboration at IMAU in due time according to the provisions stipulated in the Letter of Admission, bringing with them the following documents:
1. Letter of acceptance
2. The JW 202 Form
3. The Original Physical Examination Record and blood test report
4. The negative film of the X-ray test
5. The original copy of ECG
6. The passport and 8 photos.
Those who haven't registered in due time, will be regarded as having forfeited their rights of having a student status.
