In December 2004, the Foreign Languages College of Inner Mongolia Agricultural University grew out of the Foreign Language Department, which developed from the Foreign Language Teaching Section in November 2001. The College now consists of the First College English Teaching & Research Section，the Second College English Teaching & Research Section，Bilingual Education Teaching & Research Section , Russian and Japanese Teaching & Research Section, English Major Teaching & Research Section, Language Experiment Center，College Office and Students’ Affairs Office. The College provides university-wide courses to the undergraduates, Master candidates and PhD candidates and also to the English Majors of the University.
    At present，the College has a faculty of 86 full-time teachers of three different foreign languages, including 22 professors and associate professors, 25 lecturers，26 teachers with Master’s degree，9 overseas returnees, 2 national simultaneous interpreters and 3 foreign experts. There is a four-year program of English major and bachelor’s degree is granted after a four-year study. In the College，there are 9 advanced language laboratories，6 multi-media classrooms, 3 autonomous learning centers for students and a reference room.
    The college has established exchange partnerships with the Second Beijing Foreign Studies University and Beijing Aeronautics & Astronautics University。 Every year some excellent students will be chosen from the sophomores and sent to these universities to go on with further studies
    For the last three years，the teachers of the college have published 50 academic theses，presided over 4 national programs，participated in several major projects in West China like the Project of the Soil and Water Conservation Of Loessal Plateau sponsored by the U.N.，World Bank and the Asian Bank concerning agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry，water engineering as well as aquiculture, and undertaken the translating work for many international conferences, making a great contribution to the construction and development of the Autonomous Region and the country.
The College has an undergraduate division that awards bachelor's degrees. Altogether there are 353 students who are currently studying as English majors in the College.
The aim of the program is to foster personnel who develop morally，intellectually，physically and aesthetically and have solid language foundation of English and extensive cultural knowledge。With a perfect command of English，they are qualified to be engaged in translation, research, teaching and management in the fields of foreign affairs, education, foreign trade, research, military affairs and so on. Students are repaired to keep informed of the latest development of his major and acquire information technology，thus cultivate the essential ability to conduct scientific research and apply their language ability to the listening，speaking，listening，writing and translating of scientific English.
